After his whirlwind Australian debut in 2013, Flako will be making his long awaited return, packing a brand new live set. Get prepared to take a journey through the interstellar spheres of your minds eye! Once an MPC sample centric focus on instrumental hip-hop production, Flako’s multi textural soundscapes have developed into something else entirely. Strict confinements within genre specific realms are thrown out the window, opting for a more organic approach of channelling the energies created by everyday interaction with both the built and natural environments. Inspired just as much by the ambient music of Vangelis, the jazz of George Duke and progressive rock of Bo Hansson as he is by the South American soul, folk and cumbia he absorbed from his family growing up in a small town just outside of Frankfurt, Flako’s music transcends genre and regional music forms. His impressive debut album offering ‘Natureboy’ has turned heads demonstrating his transition from hip hop beats to full instrumentation. The albums blissed out grooves are matched against neo-classical flourishes, against moodscapes which overwhelm at every turn. Furthermore, Flako showed his versatility creating a refreshingly uncontrived take on R&B and soul producing two cuts on Fatima’s critically acclaimed Yellow Memories. It is certainly apparent Flako is one producer on the verge of huge things!
